We know that part of being connected to a healthy community is being involved. We are already doing exciting things to connect and grow together in love and leadership so join us now and start experiencing that community. Read through the different pillars at Ignite below to get an idea of where you might be able to build with us.
SUNDAYS & GUESTS
The Sunday Experience team is the first face anyone sees at Ignite. You’ll welcome guests, help people find seats, keep an eye on what the room needs, and personally walk new visitors through to the connect room. It sounds like logistics, but the team treats every service as a chance for someone to encounter God — which means noticing the person sitting alone matters as much as the chairs being straight. If you’re warm, aware of what’s going on around you, and good at making people feel at home, this is your team.
Sunday Experience
The Worship team uses music to lead the church into thanksgiving, praise and worship, and to usher the community into the presence of God. It’s musicians, singers, songwriters, producers and sound engineers — plus people with administrative skills who keep the whole thing organized. If you’re already doing any of this, or you’ve always wanted to be on a team like this, it’s totally for you!
Worship
Little Mighty Ones is the bridge for our children and families at Ignite. You’ll help create a safe, loving space where every child can connect, belong and grow — welcoming families, guiding children through the service, and running the lesson. There are two roles each Sunday: the Teacher, who delivers the lesson and sets the room up, and the Backup, who supports them. Every new volunteer shadows for their first month before taking a Sunday, so you’re never thrown in at the deep end. If you’re warm, patient and enjoy children, come and find us.

Community Welfare
Community Welfare makes sure nobody at Ignite goes unseen. You’ll celebrate the good things — new babies, weddings, birthdays, baptisms — and show up for the hard ones, including bereavement, hospital stays and crises. The team also follows up with guests and reconnects with people we haven’t seen in a while. It asks for warmth, emotional maturity, and real discretion, because you’ll be trusted with people’s private moments. There are two sub-teams: guest follow-up and community welfare.
GROWING PEOPLE
Spiritual Formation
Spiritual Formation covers two significant pieces of work. Kingdom University is our community for students to navigate faith, mental health and figuring life out alongside people doing the same. Volunteering there means helping hold the rhythms that keep it going: the weekly Bible study and prayer call, campus meetups, and the quarterly gatherings that bring everyone together. Faith Journey is the pathway the wider church moves along, from Rooted through Growth Track and into serving — and there you’ll be the point of contact for people taking classes, walking with them through next steps. If you care about how other people grow, whether that’s a student finding their feet or someone taking their next step, this is for you.
Sisterhood & Anchor Men
Sisterhood and Anchor Men exist to build close-knit groups of women and men who are healthy in every area of life — spiritually, emotionally, mentally, financially, physically and socially. You’ll help plan the gatherings, check in on people, reconnect with those we haven’t seen in a while, and welcome newcomers so nobody has to work out how to belong on their own. Both ask for an encourager who understands the pressures people face today and keeps learning about them. Anchor Men asks for one thing more — relational grit, because men often treat friendship as optional, which means the thing they most need is the thing they deprioritize.
Prayer
The church can’t achieve anything spiritually meaningful without prayer, and this is the team that keeps the community covered. You’ll join scheduled intercession meetings, help write the devotionals that keep the church “Ignited”, and shape the monthly themes that hold our spiritual focus. You don’t have to be a “prayer expert” to join. If you believe in the power of prayer and want to devote more time to intercession, this is for you.
Evolve Groups
Evolve Groups are the smaller gatherings where community actually happens, including The Bible Challenge — our collective read through the Bible. There are two roles: hosts, who make sure everyone has the address, feels comfortable in the space and gets fed; and facilitators, who lead the conversation around each week’s reading. Facilitating isn’t preaching — it’s asking good questions and making sure everyone is heard. Hosts and facilitators often swap, so you’re not locked into one role. If you can make a room feel like home, or draw a good conversation out of people, this is for you.
OUT IN THE CITY
Be the Church takes Ignite out into the city. You’ll help run quarterly outreach — soup kitchens, street clean-ups, block prayers — and monthly evangelism across New York and beyond. The team exists to answer one question: how do we genuinely ease people’s suffering in a way that introduces them to the love of God and lasts? If your heart beats for helping people and you understand something of this city’s challenges, we’d love to have you.
Be the Church
The Events team believes a well-run event can be the thing that reconnects someone with Christ, so we don’t just plan events — we plan encounters. You’ll help deliver everything from venues and vendors to budgets, run sheets and day-of logistics. Then you’ll work on what happens the day after, so new faces have somewhere to go next rather than disappearing. It suits people who are organized, obsessed with detail, and calm when the plan changes at the last minute.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Online Evangelism
Online Evangelism (colloquially referred to as ‘Media’) is Ignite’s face and voice online. One sub-team runs social media, graphics, flyers and email campaigns; the other runs AV: cameras, microphones, and the Sunday YouTube stream. Between them they make sure people watching from home get a real experience rather than an afterthought. If you’re creative, handy with Canva or a camera, or you just want to help reach more people with the love of God, come in.
Finance keeps the Ignite community financially healthy. You’ll help manage donations and payments, get tax statements out to every donor by year end, look for creative ways to manage costs, and provide regular financial transparency to the church and to RCCG NA. If you’re organized, know one or two things about accounting — or have no accounting skills at all but want to help out — get in here. We need you.
Finance
Enterprise Tech runs the platforms everything else depends on: the website, Planning Center, Teachable and the tools teams use day to day. You’ll build and maintain pages, set up registrations and event sign-ups, and support other teams when they need something built. It suits someone comfortable picking up new software and solving problems on other people’s behalf.

Community Engagement is the digital and relational bridge at Ignite, ensuring that every person experiences a structured, welcoming, and spiritually grounded pathway into deeper connection with community and Christ. They cultivate a vibrant online and physical environment where members feel valued, supported, and empowered. If you have a heart for people, emotional maturity, and a warm spirit, this is your team.

Completing Growth Track is how you join a team. It’s where you get to know Ignite, discover your gifts, and work out where you’d fit best — so by the time you join a team, it’s the right one.

Join the auxiliary team instead. You’ll serve alongside the Sunday Experience team roughly once a month. No Growth Track needed, and no long-term commitment.
